Description

This course surveys the development of Modern Britain with a special focus on the British Empire. Topics addressed include the creation of the United Kingdom, the development of British colonies in the Americas, the loss of Britain's American colonies, the acquisition of colonies in India, Africa, and the Middle East, decolonization, and Britain's place in the modern world.
