Description
This course is an introduction to the history, development, and practice of piano teaching. The course content includes a survey of current and past literature with an emphasis on works by great composers and methods which are geared toward teaching. Students will be introduced to the essentials of running a piano studio: business practices, professional organization membership, developing studio policies, etc. Practical teaching exercises for various levels of piano students will be included. Suggested for all music majors and for music minors whose primary instrument is the piano.
