Prerequisite: Any mathematics course other than MAT 013 or permission. An overview course intended for students with little or no scientific background. Topics include the historical development of astronomy, visual astronomy, stellar evolution and characteristics, galaxies, modern cosmology, and the solar system. Three hours of lecture and two hours of lab per week. Sky observation with the College's telescopes is included although not all lab time involves observing the sky. Additionally as homework, students are required to attend some observations other than scheduled class or lab times. Offered Occasionally
