Present interests: Spanish cultural studies / Latinos in the United States

Description

Prerequisite: SPA 123orSPA 143. Study and practice of the Spanish most needed for K-12 classroom teachers who must interact with LEP (limited English proficiency) students and parents whose native language is Spanish. Course will also include the history of and current trends in the migration of Spanish-speakers to the United States, psychological issues presented in migrant children, and cultural competency for the teacher.
