Prerequiste: CWM 253 with a C- or better. This course focuses on wildlife damage management (WDM) processes essential for protecting U.S. agriculture, natural resources, and other property/infrastructure using the latest humane control techniques. Content is intended to prepare students for APHIS career fields with the USDA. Wildlife damage and disease management techniques covered will factor in social, political, and ethical decisions to resolve conflicts between people and wildlife. Important topics covered include natural resource policy, natural resource/land use planning, control techniques, human health and safety, wildlife diseases, animal biology, and euthanasia. Two hours of lecture and one two-hour laboratory each week.
