An introductory examination of basic investigative principles from both primary and follow-up investigation perspectives. This class will examine major case investigative methods, sources of information, development of leads, crime analysis, and methods applicable to crime and specific offenses. This class will also include a practical element on how to prepare search and arrest warrant affidavits, conduct field interviews, understand rudimentary police reports, conduct vehicle stops and searches, investigate homicides, and analyze rudimentary forensic and physical evidence.
