Prerequisite: HST 163 or equivalent. A survey of the main trends of traditional Russian history, and an examination of the failure of czarist Russia, the Bolshevik Revolution, the evolution of the USSR, and the role of Russia in the contemporary world. This course will count in the major requirements as a European or Third World course but not as both. Writing Intensive. (S?even)
