This course should be taken concurrently with ENG 163if possible. Explores the story of Western Civilization from the reign of Louis XIV in the middle of the seventeenth century to the present. These three centuries witnessed the growing influence of Western culture on the rest of the world as well as reactions to that influence. Major topics addressed in this course include the Scientific, Industrial, and Atlantic Revolutions, Imperialism, WWI & WWII, Decolonization, the Cold War, and the Post-9/11 World. Fall/Spring
