COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course is divided into several phases over two semesters.   The first phase will begin in September with conditioning, learning new 8-counts, chants, cheers, training for partner stunts, pyramid building through safety guidelines, etc.  The second phase will be the season where you will have to have all the above mentioned material learned and be able to perform.  There will also be a couple of routines where all material will have to be learned.  The third phase will be the continued season with tournaments where you may be asked to follow the men or women teams to their various venues. Athletes will be required to tryout each year. Nobody is automatically chosen for the team based on previous year.  

COURSE LEVEL

  1.  A cheerleader’s first responsibility is to his/her academic program.  The educational process should not be compromised by participating in cheerleading. 
  1. To teach team building both physically and mentally. 
  1. The primary function of a cheerleading program is to support interschool athletics and to uphold, reflect, and project the goals of the college community. Cheerleaders are responsible for bringing spirit into the athletic arena. 
  1. C of O will adopt a rigorous safety program. 
  1. Be involved in public relations and community services 

TEXTBOOKS AND OTHER MATERIALS

All mandatory equipment and uniform will be provided.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  1. Keep improving at each skill level regarding stunting, chants, and dances. 
  2. Constantly strive to make the attitude of the team the best it can be.

ATTENDANCE & COURSE POLICIES

Attendance- required at all practices, games, and activities. If for some reason this is impossible, coach must be notified prior to missing an event. 

CAVEAT

The coach has the right to dismiss any student from the team if he or she does not follow through with the requirements of this course.
