This course is intended to introduce the student to experiences of children in the foster care system. Students will be expected to:

  • Describe the experience that may be expected by being a part of a foster family (PSY 2a).
  • Describe current practices in the placement of sibling groups (PSY 2a).
  • Connect the information from the textbooks and research articles to an interview of a professional working in the field of foster care (PSY 2a).

These Student Learning Outcomes correspond to the following Program Learning Outcomes.

PSYCHOLOGY DEPARTMENT PROGRAM LEARNING OUTCOMES

  1. Vocational Objective: Obtain a foundation in psychology sufficient for further professional training or graduate work in such fields as counseling, clinical psychology, public safety, social services, or school counseling.
    1. Demonstrates foundational knowledge necessary to gain admittance to graduate school, to further professional training, or in a vocation related to psychology.
